Symbols of Halloween

Halloween is a kind of pagan celebration of the ancient Celtic people who lived in the territory comprising Britain, France and Germany. First it was called All Hallow's Even (the evening before All Saints Day) and then reduced for Halloween. The symbols present at this celebration are:

Witch


Principal symbol of that party. The stories tell of witches attending parties held by the devil, which were usually held on April 30 and October 31. This belief came to the United States by their colonizers and from there spread throughout the world, taking many different forms.

Pumpkins and candles



Pumpkins symbolize fertility and wisdom, while candles used to illuminate the path of the spirits. Legend has it that the practice of cutting the pumpkin and put a candle inside it appeared the story of Jack, a man who loved to drink and he met the devil on the day he drank too much. Smart, the devil imprisoned in various locations until the day that, of drink, died. His entry was denied in heaven and in hell, humiliating as the devil. From there the soul of Jack started to roam the world. Pumpkins lit then went on to be used by Jack to escape the darkness and light your way.


Black Cat



Symbol is a witch on because they can turn into cats. Other superstitions about cats is that these are sources of chance and are also the spirits of dead people.

Trick or treat



During this period people were the "soul cakes the" simple pasta with red currant and coverage to deliver to children, properly dressed, knocked on doors to ask for the cakes. In exchange for each piece of cake, the child was committed to pray for the soul of a relative who offered him.

Broom



Is a symbol of female power to clean everything that has negative consequences for life, like electricity and negative thoughts.

Bat


Symbolizes the vision that goes beyond appearances and can see the depths of people.

Apple


Fruit associated with the gods of love, the party is used as a symbol of life.
