Pan American Games and Pets.

The Pan-American Games of 2011, officially called XVI Pan American Games were a multi-sport event held in Guadalajara, Mexico, between 14 and 30 October. Although the Games are based in Guadalajara, some events were held in nearby towns such as Ciudad Guzmán, Puerto Vallarta, Lagos de Moreno and Tapalpa.

The mascots of the Pan American Games 2011: Gavo, Leo and Huichi, from left to right.

The mascots for the Pan American Games and Parapan American Huichi for 2011 are (a deer), Gavo (an agave) and Leo (a lion).

Gavo - The blue agave, tequila production represents the state of Jalisco.
Huichi - The Corsican purple represents the southern Jalisco and alludes to Huichoi and femininity.
Leo - The Lion yellow, represents the strength of the people of Guadalajara, alludes to the city seal.

At the end of the award ceremonies, in addition to gold, silver and bronze medals, the athletes received one of three mascots in the form of stuffed.
